Tencent invests directly from its balance sheet rather than through a separate fund, and is one of the most active corporate investors in technology. Crunchbase records 879 investments across 633 companies, with Tencent leading 450 of them. It backs gaming, artificial intelligence, fintech, biotech and consumer internet businesses, and its portfolio reaches well beyond China, including Paystack in Africa, Swiggy in India and W4 Games. The group is headquartered in Shenzhen and has exited holdings including Unitree Robotics.
