Investment thesis

Cambridge Angels is a business angel network in Cambridge whose members are mostly entrepreneurs who have exited their own companies, concentrated in technology and healthcare. Founded in 2001, it caps membership at 65 and charges companies nothing to present or raise. Members describe what they offer as smart capital from entrepreneurs to entrepreneurs, combining money with operating experience and a defined investment process.

Cambridge Angels was founded in September 2001 and is an invitation-only business angel network whose membership is capped at around 60-65 investors, most of them entrepreneurs who have built and exited companies, plus a small number of corporate VC members. It charges no fees to companies pitching, funding itself through member subscriptions and sponsorship. Members typically meet funding requirements in the £150k to £1.5M range and have invested more than £150M into over 120 companies, with a current portfolio of over 150 businesses. Sector strengths are deep tech, technology and communications, healthcare and life sciences. Companies backed include Paragraf, Arecor, Eagle Genomics, Privitar and Healx.
