The best startup events in Europe 2027: the complete calendar

Every major European startup event in 2027, organised by quarter - with verified dates clearly separated from expected slots, and a framework for picking the ones worth your badge.

Also see more events coverage: /events/

The best startup events in Europe in 2027 are MWC Barcelona with 4YFN (1-4 March), Hannover Messe (5-8 April), London Tech Week (7-11 June), VivaTech (16-19 June), and the autumn pair of Web Summit and Slush – but which of them is worth your badge depends entirely on the one job you need the event to do.

A caveat before the calendar, because most “2027 events” lists skip it: as of late August 2026, only a handful of 2027 dates have actually been announced. We have verified the confirmed ones this week and say so in each table. Everything else is listed as an expected slot based on where the event has landed in previous years – organisers move dates, and a calendar that pretends otherwise is a calendar you cannot plan against. We track around 300 events across 40+ countries in the Sesamers database, and the honest answer is that most 2027 editions will be confirmed between now and early next year. Below, I lay out the year quarter by quarter, confirmed dates flagged, guesswork labelled as guesswork.

Before you book anything: the five jobs

What do you actually need the event to do? Every event can only really do one of five jobs for a startup: pipeline (meeting buyers), capital (meeting investors), brand (press and visibility), intel (understanding a market), or community (peers and hiring). Our method is blunt: write the one job down before you book, because an event that is excellent at one job is usually mediocre at the others. VivaTech is superb for corporate innovation pipeline and hopeless as a capital-raising venue relative to its size; Slush is the opposite. I have lost count of the badges that paid for nothing because nobody wrote the job down first. If your job for 2027 is capital, skip ahead to our ranking of the best fundraising events by investor density – the numbers there will save you at least one wasted trip.

Q1 2027: Barcelona anchors the quarter

EventCityDatesBest for
DLD MunichMunichExpected January 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)Intel, senior-level networking
TechChillRigaExpected February 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)Baltic and Nordic early-stage community
MWC BarcelonaBarcelona1-4 March 2027 – confirmed (GSMA event listings, checked August 2026)Pipeline with telco and enterprise buyers
4YFNBarcelona1-4 March 2027, co-located with MWCStartups selling into connectivity; corporate scouts

MWC is the giant of the quarter: the March 2026 edition drew roughly 105,000 attendees and 2,900 exhibitors on the organiser’s published figures, with 4YFN hosting 1,000+ startups (no separate 4YFN headcount is published). Be clear-eyed about what MWC is and is not. The density there is buyer density, not investor density. If you sell infrastructure, devices, or anything a telecom operator or its enterprise customers buy, this one week can carry your whole year’s pipeline. If you are raising a seed round, it is a very expensive place to be ignored – our 4YFN and MWC guide covers how to work it properly.

Q2 2027: the crowded June window

EventCityDatesBest for

Latitude59TallinnExpected late May 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)Early-stage fundraising, Baltic ecosystem
London Tech WeekLondon7-11 June 2027 – confirmed (londontechweek.com, checked August 2026)Brand, policy, corporate meetings

SXSW LondonLondonExpected June 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)Brand, media, culture-adjacent tech
VivaTechParis16-19 June 2027 – confirmed (organiser listings via Dealroom, checked August 2026)Corporate innovation, brand at scale
South SummitMadridExpected June 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)Southern Europe and Latin America bridges

June 2027 is a pile-up: London Tech Week, Money20/20 and VivaTech land within a fortnight of each other, because apparently Europe agreed to hold its entire events season in one month. The reality: VivaTech’s June 2025 edition reported a record 180,000 visitors from 171 nationalities, with 14,000 startups and 3,600+ investors on the organiser’s published figures – and computed from those figures, that is roughly one investor per 50 attendees, the thinnest investor density of the big three European events. At that scale, nobody finds you by accident. The silver lining: the same scale that buries a fundraising founder is exactly what a pipeline founder needs, because the corporates come precisely for that breadth. The opportunity: go for corporate partnerships and French market entry, not for your round – our VivaTech guide has the full playbook. And if two June events both look relevant, pick one and do it properly; you cannot split the month across three badges and do any of them well.

Q3 2027: the quiet quarter, used well

EventCityDatesBest for
IFA BerlinBerlinExpected early September 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)Consumer tech and hardware distribution
Bits & PretzelsMunichExpected late September 2027, dates TBC (usual Oktoberfest-window slot)Founder networking, DACH ecosystem

July and August are dead for European events – this is the continent that invented the sacred August out-of-office, after all. That quiet is a feature, not a roadblock. The autumn circuit, and the funds who walk it, gets planned in the summer. Use Q3 to build your target lists, request meetings, and apply to the competitions and programmes with autumn deadlines. Bits & Pretzels then opens the autumn season in Munich with a founder-heavy, deliberately informal format; IFA remains the play for consumer hardware companies chasing retail and distribution rather than venture capital.

Q4 2027: the fundraising season

EventCityDatesBest for
Sifted SummitLondonExpected early October 2027, dates TBC (usual slot)European founders and scaleups, sharp content
Web SummitLisbonExpected November 2027, dates TBC (the 2026 edition runs 9-12 November)Brand, press, breadth, corporates
SlushHelsinkiExpected mid/late November 2027, dates TBC (the 2026 edition runs 18-19 November)Fundraising – the highest investor density in Europe

So where does the capital job actually get done? Here. Web Summit’s November 2025 edition reported 71,386 attendees from 157 countries, with 2,725 startups and 1,857 investors; Slush’s November 2025 edition reported 13,000 attendees including 3,300 investors and 5,500+ startup founders and operators from 90 countries – each event’s own published post-event figures. Computed from those figures, that is roughly one investor per 38 attendees at Web Summit against one per 4 at Slush. Same month, radically different machines. Read our head-to-head on Web Summit versus Slush before you assume you need both, and if you land on Helsinki, the Slush playbook covers the eight-week preparation the event actually demands.

How to actually use this calendar

Three rules. First, pick two or three events for the year, each mapped to one written-down job – not six events mapped to vague hope. For context, UFI and Oxford Economics put the global exhibitions industry at $443.6bn in output with 318 million visitors in 2025 (April 2026 report): the industry is very good at selling attendance, and none of that output is obliged to flow to you. Second, measure each event by cost per meaningful conversation, not badge scans or vibes, and score it at day 90 and day 270 – pipeline matures slowly enough that the honest verdict arrives late. Third, book around confirmed dates and hold the TBC ones loosely. Remember: flights and hotels for Helsinki in November or Barcelona in March sell out months out, but you only commit non-refundable money once the organiser has published dates.

A full calendar is not the goal for 2027. A packed year of badges is what the exhibitions industry sells; it is not what builds a company. The real goal is two or three events, each doing one job you wrote down in advance, each measured honestly at day 90. Pick your jobs, book the badges that earn their place, and make 2027 the year every trip pays for itself!

Frequently asked questions

Which 2027 dates are actually confirmed?

As of our check in late August 2026: MWC Barcelona and 4YFN (1-4 March), Hannover Messe (5-8 April), London Tech Week (7-11 June), Money20/20 Europe (8-10 June) and VivaTech (16-19 June). Every other entry in this calendar is an expected slot based on the event’s usual timing, and we will update this page as organisers announce.

What is the best event to meet investors in 2027?

Slush, by a distance, on investor density: roughly one investor per 4 attendees, computed from its published 2025 figures, against one per 38 at Web Summit and one per 50 at VivaTech. Density is not the whole story – sector and stage fit still decide whether the meetings convert – but it is the right starting filter.

How many events should a startup attend in a year?

Two or three done properly beats six done casually. Each event should have one written-down job, meetings booked weeks in advance, and a day-90 review of what it actually produced. If you cannot name the job, do not book the badge.

When should I book travel for the big autumn events?

As soon as dates are confirmed. Helsinki hotel stock around Slush and Lisbon stock around Web Summit tighten badly in the final two months, and the price difference funds another trip. For TBC events, wait for the announcement rather than gambling on the usual slot.
