The 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival (SSIFF, Donostia Zinemaldia) ran from 18 to 26 September 2026 in San Sebastián, Spain. Screenings and galas centre on the Kursaal and the Victoria Eugenia theatre, and the industry programme runs at Tabakalera.
Its technology strand, Zinemaldia & Technology, is organised by the festival with TECNALIA, ALÍA (Alianza Industrial Audiovisual) and Vicomtech. Its centrepiece is the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge, a competition for startups building technology for film and audiovisual production. The 2026 edition, the eighth, received 68 applications, a record since the first edition in 2019, and ten finalists pitched at Prisma, Tabakalera, on 24 September 2026.
The Startup Challenge is part of Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech, backed by Spain’s Ministry of Culture through ICAA, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, and ICEX.
