Investment thesis

PXN Ventures is a venture capital firm with about 670 million pounds under management, investing at pre-seed, seed and Series B and beyond in founders in the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Its EIS and knowledge-intensive vehicles are run through FCA-authorised subsidiaries. It pairs capital with operational support, giving founders access to people who have built companies in their sectors before.

PXN Ventures was created in June 2025 by the merger of Manchester-based Praetura Ventures and Edinburgh-based Par Equity, forming a group with £670M of assets under management as at 31 March 2025. It invests from pre-seed to Series B through EIS, VCT, PraeSeed, Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II, Greater Manchester and Scale Up vehicles, with cheque sizes reported at £200k to £8M. Sector strengths inherited from the two firms include SaaS, fintech and healthtech (Praetura) and B2B healthtech, climate tech and industrial tech such as robotics, photonics and advanced materials (Par Equity). It reports 150 businesses backed, 115 current portfolio companies and around 3,100 jobs supported, with holdings including AccessPay, Aveni, pureLiFi, Advanced Electric Machines and Sunamp.
