Femmes Business Angels

Femmes Business Angels

Paris, France · Founded 2003

Investment thesis

Femmes Business Angels is a French network of women business angels working from Paris. Its roughly 170 members invest their own money in early-stage startups, and the network reports more than 200 companies financed and over 25 million euros put into innovation. Alongside capital, members act as mentors and open their professional networks. It describes itself as the first female business angel network in Europe.

Femmes Business Angels is France’s only all-women business angel network and presents itself as the largest female angel network in Europe. Its own figures are 170 women investors, more than 200 startups financed and over EUR 25m invested. Members commit personally, historically around EUR 10-12k per project per year, joining rounds of roughly EUR 100k to EUR 1m with an average near EUR 300k, always as minority equity holders and never through loans. The network invests across all sectors and reports that about 20% of the projects it funds come from outside Ile-de-France. Beyond capital, members mentor founders through a typical five to six year holding period.
