Sofinnova Partners

Paris, France · Founded 1972

Investment thesis

Sofinnova Partners is a life sciences venture capital firm founded in 1972 with more than 4 billion euros under management. It invests worldwide from seed through growth, frequently as founding or lead investor, across biopharma, medtech, digital medicine, techbio and industrial biotech spanning agriculture, chemicals, food and materials. It creates companies itself and describes its focus as breakthrough innovations aimed at the world's most pressing problems.

Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Paris with offices in London and Milan, Sofinnova Partners is one of Europe’s longest-running life sciences venture firms. It runs several dedicated strategies — Sofinnova Capital (early-stage biopharma and medtech), Crossover (growth), Industrial Biotech, Digital Medicine, Telethon, MD Start and Biovelocita — and states more than €4bn in assets under management. In November 2025 it closed Sofinnova Capital XI at €650M ($750M), above target, to back early-stage healthcare companies with both initial and follow-on cheques. The firm is known for company creation as well as classic venture investing, with portfolio companies including Moon Surgical, HotSpot Therapeutics, Mediar Therapeutics and HAYA Therapeutics.
