Volum Technologies develops HoloMIT, a real-time volumetric capture, telepresence and immersive communication stack. Its technology captures people in 3D, streams them and displays them for XR, remote collaboration, events, education, health and virtual production. Products include the HoloMIT SDK, HoloStudio, HoloTotem, HoloTable and HoloCabine.
The Barcelona company is the fifth spin-off of the i2CAT research center. i2CAT’s board approved the spin-off in January 2025 and the company was set up in July 2025, with Sergi Fernandez as co-founder and CEO, Marc Martos as co-founder and CTO and Mohamad Hjeij as co-founder and COO. i2CAT holds a stake and licenses two technologies to the company. The underlying research drew more than €3.7 million in EU and Catalan grants over about four years, through projects including VRTogether, XReco, 6G-XR, PRESENCE and HEAT. No priced equity round has been disclosed.
Volum was one of five Spanish finalists at the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge 2026.
